Blizzard of 2016 – Amazing Time Lapsed Video

A MAINE CHILDHOOD

When I just turned three, my family moved to a little town in Maine. I was too young to understand, or care, that it was a rather treacherous part of the country for my mother who was raising five children and taking care of her father. I honestly don’t think she was very happy, but I sure was. To this day the idea of a snowstorm sparks an electric current that runs like lightening through my body. The smell of it. The taste and sound of a beautiful Maine snowstorm remains embedded in my soul memory bank. How I ended up in North Carolina is still a mystery to me, and it’s never felt quite like home despite the 25 years we’ve lived here. Now I enjoy the vicariously through videos and pictures like those below.

The Blizzard of 2016 was a good one!

This amazing time-lapsed video of the blizzard of 2016 tells the story. Sadly, because I love snow, we’re too far south to get a real snow, and instead experienced 3 inches of sleet/ice/snow. Thankfully, no power outages! I’ve enjoyed exchanging pics with family and friends up and down the east coast.

The prize goes to this video filmed in Martinsburg, WV where they received 40 inches of snow in 27 hours. Watch the time lapsed video – a 40 second 40 inch snow fall! Wow!

Blizzard Time Lapse This is by far the coolest time-lapse video I’ve seen from the Blizzard of 2016. Wayne Bennett’s camera took one photo every two minutes for nearly 27 hours. He captures 40″ of snow over 40 seconds in Martinsburg, WV. Thanks Regina Willis.

  1. Wow! This was spectacular. Thanks for sharing Dorothy. I’ve seen enough of those storms in my lifetime, so I’m glad I’m in the southwest right now, lol. 🙂
